Our "Lemunlay" tribal beaded waterfall fringe necklaces are handmade by the T'Boli indigenous artisans of the Philippines. They refer to these adornments as "waterfall necklaces" as inspired by the several waterfalls in their area.
Historically, the beads used hundreds of years ago were made of seeds (ergo, "seed beads"), but with colored beads available in the market today, the artisans can get a little more creative and play with more colors and patterns.
"Lemlunay" is a word of indigenous T'boli origin, and also used by the other tribes in the Sarangani/South Cotabato area, in the Philippines. Generally, "Lemlunay" is a cultural part of these tribes, and loosely defined as “paradise”.
So, wearing a Lemunlay necklace can be your little slice of paradise. :)
